ADRIATIC FIGS
Green skin outside and deep red inside. This is possibly the most delicious of all the fig families with rich, deep, complex acid berry fruit flavors and a thick texture pulp. Examples include Adriatic (JH), Paradiso Bronze, White Madeira #1, Battaglia Green, Green Ischia, Verte, Angelito, and the list goes on.
BORDEAUX
Bordeaux figs have a purple skin and a rich red pulp. Like Adriatics, this fig is blessed with a rich acid berry fruit flavor. It is a very prolific family that can produce abundant fruit including 2 high quality crops, breba and main. Examples include Nero 600m, unk Negretta, Violet de Bordeaux, Vallecalde, Vallenegra, Forth Mill Dark, Ronde de Bordeaux (photo shown), Negretta, etc.
Mount Aetna or Mt. Etna
The Chicago Hardy family. Usually purple outside, but the color can range from Blonde to Purple. The interior is always a red color with varying levels of berry flavor depending on variety and ripeness along with sun exposure, water availability, etc. Example list is very lengthy but include Malta Black, Black Greek, Bensonhurst Purple, Red Lebanese (BV), Makedonia, Kellie, Julie, Black Bethlehem, Hardy Chicago or Chicago Hardy, Sicilian unknown, and the list goes on and on and on...
